Tour:AIoT Masterclass Day 1
Introduction
Welcome
Welcome to day 1 of the AIoT Masterclass
Digital OEM and Digital Operator - enabled by AIoT
AIoT is a new paradigm which will enable digital OEMs and digital operators by combining AI with IoT-based connectivity between physical assets and the cloud (or, in some cases, on-premise back-end solutions).
Digital OEM vs. Digital Equipment Operator
The Digital OEM
Lets start by looking at the Digital OEM
Lets start by looking at the Digital OEM
Digital OEM
The digital OEM combines physical product design and manufacturing with cloud-based service development (utilizing AIoT) to build smart, connected products.
Digital OEMs - shifting markets
In some industries like automotive, the disruption of the existing value chain is happening at full speed. Other industries will follow.
Digital OEMs build Smart connected products
Digital OEMs are building smart, connected products
Example: Autonomous Driving
A good example for Asset Intelligence is autonomous driving. AI is combined with sensor data fusion to provide short term trajectory planning. Cloud data is added to provide long term trajectory planning.
Example: Ridesharing / Shuttle Bus
A good example for Swarm Intelligence is a Ridesharing / Shuttle Bus system, where multiple shuttles have to pick up and transport passengers dynamically.
How does it all fit together - the WHY WHAT WHO and HOW of AIoT
AIoT enables close alignment of product life cycle with customer journey
Digital OEMs are building smart, connected products - and must ensure to closely align the product lifecycle with the customer journey.
WHY become a Digital OEM?
WHY: EBIT vs. ARR
For many OEMs on their way towards a Digital OEM, EBIT margin improvements are the top priority, while ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) is more of a medium-term goal.
