Welcome to the digital.auto initiative. We aim to help the mobility community deliver on the promise of the "Smart-phone on wheels" vision by combining a strongly use-case driven co-innovation approach with technical enablers such as Software-defined Vehicle, Digital Twin and AIoT.
Overview
The digital.auto initiative aims to utilize the emerging Software-defined Vehicle infrastructure to bring a truly digital experience to mobility users. For this to happen, on-board and off-board development must be closely aligned. We do this by starting with the identification and prioritization of the most relevant use cases. These are then mapped to off-board apps (mobile, cloud) as well as on-board application services - integrating with the vehicle digital twin to access all relevant vehicle features via true software APIs.
Workstreams
The digital.auto currently has 3 main workstreams: playground.digital.auto, simulation.digital.auto and vsm.digital.auto. playground.digital.auto will provide an in-browser, rapid prototyping environment utilizing the COVESA APIs for connected vehicles. simulation.digital.auto will provide real-world simulation of a connected vehicle, again utilizing the COVESA standards. Finally, vsm.digital.auto provides best practices for automotive project managers and solution architects. A full demo can be accessed on the VSM workstream page.

Summary
The ultimate goal of digital.auto is to support digital value creation for OEMs in close alignment with the development of the physical elements of the vehicle.
