The digital.auto project aims to utilize the emerging Software-defined Vehicle infrastructure to bring a truly digital experience to mobility users. For this to happen, on-board and off-board development must be closely aligned. We do this by starting with the identification and prioritization of the most relevant use cases. These are then mapped to off-board apps (mobile, cloud) as well as on-board application services - integrating with the vehicle digital twin to access all relevant vehicle features via true software APIs.

The digital.auto currently has 2 main workstreams: blueprint.digital.auto and sandbox.digital.auto.

blueprint.digital.auto provides an actionable blueprint including a digital.auto project structure and solution design, building on existing standards like COVESA. It is mainly useful for project managers and solution architects. A full demo can be accessed on the [[Overview:_blueprint.digital.auto|workstream page]].
playground.digital.auto will provide an in-browser, rapid prototyping environment utilizing the COVESA APIs for connected vehicles. simulation.digital.auto will provide real-world simulation of a connected vehicle, again utilizing the COVESA standards. Finally, vsm.digital.auto provides best practices for automotive project managers and solution architects. sandbox.digital.auto aims to provide a playground for experimentation and co-innovation. You will be able to build digital.auto apps against the full vehicle Digital Twin API, which is mapped to 3D vehicle simulation and selected vehicle hardware components. Current status is ''proposal''.

Dirk Slama is VP and Chief Alliance Officer at Bosch Software Innovations (SI). Bosch SI is spearheading the Internet of Things (IoT) activities of Bosch, the global manufacturing and services group. Dirk has over 20 years experience in very large-scale distributed application projects and system integration, including SOA, BPM, M2M and most recently IoT. He is representing Bosch at the Industrial Internet Consortium and is active in the Industry 4.0 community. He holds an MBA from IMD Lausanne as well as a Diploma Degree in Computer Science from TU Berlin.

CONTRIBUTOR
Achim’s goal is to improve the experience of vehicle users, OEMs, and software developers by accelerating the innovation cycles in the automotive industry. At Bosch Connected Mobility Solutions he is responsible for product and portfolio of the Software-defined Vehicle. Before this, he drove product innovations in the mobility sector by validating business, technology hypotheses and user needs at scale. Achim holds a PhD in computational mathematics from Swiss Institute of Technology (EPFL) and an executive education on Innovation Acceleration from UC Berkeley.
